NCC –> Ns

Since NS for most males start on the 4th, 5th and 6th, shall input some of what I’ve learnt in NCC for the 4 years here. Actually the stuffs I’ve learnt in NCC are the very basics for NS only. While showering just now, I actually thought of something which sparked interest for this blog entry. This is with regards to Individual Field Craft (IFC). It’s one of the lesser covered component in NCC but I’m starting to love it, minusing those leopard crawl and stuff, it’s actually fun! I don’t know about NS, however, IFC in NCC is a total team play, not so much individual. There’s many aspect of it, but I’m only mentioning one, which is the “GIRLO”, a method for the team’s leader to relay to his member, the location of the enemy.

I — ? (Indication of distance?) Sorry la! I forgot!
R — Range
L — Location
O — Order

Note, there’s probably about 2 Previous NCC cadets also viewing my blog, and one of them is a Master Sergeant, so please correct me if I made any mistakes.

So here’s a scenario I’ve thought up…

Country X had initiated a war with Country Y because of Z. Commander C.L.Kee is leading his troops into the jungle of Country Y…
*Note, as NS is somehow not as “clean”, bear with the language*

Y.F.Foo(Just a platoon mate la): Contacted!

(Upon hearing contacted, all platoon mates are to prone down ASAP!)

Commander C.L.Kee thought: How could I lose to a Chao Coporal in detecting the enemy? How come I still have not seen them! Like that how to give the GIRLO? Die! Will all my team mates die because of that?

Bang Bang!

Commander C.L.Kee carried on thinking: Fuck la! I have not seen them they saw me le! Oh wait! I saw them! Wahaha! Just about 15 people want to challenge my platoon of 30! You Die!

Meanwhile the platoon mates are still waiting for instructions…

Commander C.L.Kee shouted: Platoon (Group)

Y.F.Foo: Yes Sergeant!
(This is a mistake, as the Commander is suppossed to shout out the whole command while the others just got to listen!)

Commander C.L.Kee continued, ignoring the disturbance: 3 O’Clock (I – Indication)
: 200 Metres (Range)
: Behind the trees (Location)
: Hold your Fire and wait for my command!(Order)

Now, the second aspect of IFC. (I just felt like continuing the story la!)

As a platoon is definitely not going to chiong with all 30 men together, they are of course split into groups. For NCC, it is usually into 3 groups, so I shall follow accordingly.

Commander: “Section 1 ready?”

Section 1: “Ready!”

Commander: “Section 1 advance!”

Section 1: “Buddy cover me!”
: “One thousand.. Two thousand.. Three thousand.. Fou”

Commander: “What Four! Prone la idiots! Do you want to be shot!?”
(3 seconds is the ideal time to run and find a cover asap for some reason or another la.)

Section 1 manages to prone and crawl to safety.

Commander: “Section 2 ready?”
Section 2:” Ready!”
Commander “Section 2 advance!”
Section 2: “Buddy cover me!”
: “One thousand…”
Commander: “Oi! What the fuck are you doing? Your section just ran and you are still smelling grass! Gogogo!”

Section 2, including the day dreamer miraculous managed to get to safety.

Commander: “Section 3 ready?”
Section 3: “Ready!”
Commander: “Section 3 advance!”
Section 3: “Buddy Cover me!”
Commander thinking: Something is wrong. Something is missing. What is it? AAhhhh! I am in Section 3! Why didn’t I run!

Meanwhile, the whole platoon manages to inch closer to the enemy, all but the commander. So in a stroke of genieus, or so the commander thought, he shouted

“Commander Ready?”
“Ready!”
“Commander Advance!”
“Buddy Cover Me!”
“One thousand.. Two Thousand.. Three thousand.. Four thousand.. Five thousand..”

He fell to the ground, blood by his side. He died.

Moral of the story? Try not to confuse your commander.

Change of Opinions

Well, I’ve got 2 changes of opinions as of now.

Since I just finished the book , I suppose this is the best time to compare the book with the movie. The movie is bad la, regardless of the Cedric Scene. A lot of facts were wrong and I wonder what J. K. Rowling felt after the movie. However, I do suppose that the movie producer will consult J. k. Rowling for her opinion before they screen the movie, so ya.

When did it become Longbottom who present the gillyweed to Potter? Rubbish! It was Dobby the house elf who stole it from Snape.

And actually a lot more la, just that I could not recall at the moment. However, while reading the book, I got more disappointed with the movie. It excludes many details.

Oh yah, when did Hermione hug Harry outside of the tent before his task?

Disappointing indeed.

Secondly, bleach at episode 62 was pretty interesting and unexpected ba. There’s things to ponder about after the episodes later on. However, can’t blame me for my previous post ma, since from 1-20 they are really fighting only hollows. However, from 21 onwards, hollows only appear in fillr episodes. However, from 60 onwards, menos (A much larger form of Hollows should be making their reappearances). However, it is indeed one nice anime ba.

Anyway, many people are enlisting soon! Exciting!

Anyone know where we could try out the whole obstacle course other than those unaccessible camps? I do want to try out the whole thing once. It does look nice and stuff la, given that there is no timing to complete the whole SOC (Standard Obstacle Course). It should be quite a lot of fun ba, climbing the ropes, high wall, monkey bar, parallel bars, the wooden logs and stuff.

And I look as though I’m 5 months pregnant after today’s dinner. Argh!

Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are my off days too! Looonnnggg off days this week! Cool! Shall train 2 times a day! Hmph! I’m gonna get into shape soon. Real soon…

Bleach Vs Full Metal Alchemist

Versus

Currently, to me, the answer to which is the better anime is obvious. Having watched the whole 52 episodes of Full Metal Alchemist and touched by the storyline, it’s no doubt that full metal has already won a place in my heart. However, having watched only the first 20 episodes of bleach, I still cannot judge it, despite feeling that it is a good anime too! However, if it is to eclipse the plot of Full Metal Alchemist, I say that a lot of work has got to be put into it still, to make the story, well, more matured and let people think about stuffs more. I personally feel that watching animes or movies or serials for that matter, allowing the viewer to think about the show will make it more like a 2 way thing. This enhances the viewing pleasure and therefore make the show much more worth the watch.

On a side note, Arsenal failed to nail a victory. This leave Chelsea leading the pack with a 9 point gap. The thing is not so much that Chelsea is dominating the game. It is that they are dominating and yet arrogant. I don’t know much about Seria A, however, Juventus is also leading the pack with a comfortable cushion but yet there is no complaint.

An example to illustrate this.
Chelsea is a very very very clever boy who tops every class test.
Juventus is also a very very clever boy who tops the class test in another class.

However, Juventus kept quiet about his success, whereas Chelsea is boasting that no one can defeat him and claim that he will top the class at the end of the year even though it is only June.

I hope this bring out the message. Don’t be arrogant!

Anyway, back to Full Metal Vs Bleach. Full Metal centered around 2 brothers (ahhh! Typical cliche but touching storyline, u feel it don’t ya?) Whereas Bleach is evolving around this particular guy and a girl. The brothers more of like make friends whereas the pair more of like kill off spirits and whatnot. Full Metal has a more interesting array of badies who happen to be the 7 deadliest sins, naming a few would be greed, sloth, pride, etc. Whereas so far, Bleach enemies have a common name, which is Hollows. In that aspect, of course the baddies in Full Metal are more worth the watch!

The graphics of Full Metal is still a notch higher than in Bleach.

However, one aspect of bleach that probably is better than that of FMA is probably the humour. FMA is more like a well, serious, whereas Bleach is more light hearted, with some parts rather amusing.

Having said that, it is quite clear which is the better anime from my point of view.

Shall await the arrival of more animes as well as the full collection of bleach!

Sick!

Of all times, I had to fall sick just a few days away from the guitar bbq. I’m afraid I could not go for the bbq if my temperature still fluctuates or my throat still sore. My parents will almost certainly don’t allow, especially since I didn’t work for yest and today. How much I hope I’ll be fine tomorrow.

Perhaps it’s a good thing I didn’t go for prom, or that the LAN outing was cancelled. Who knows, if I happen to be out so late in the night on the day whereby my fever starts, I may not even be here typing! Or perhaps, if I did go for prom, I would eat lesser heaty stuff and not result in the sore throat leading to the fever!

Argh! And this is like the 4th time I’m sick in this 2 years? Not including small illness like flu or cough or slight fever that subsided away the next day after popping 2 panadols.

And everytime I fell sick, there would be discussions on how did I get so prone to illness. My father claimed that it was because of my indulgence with heaty food which I agree completely. However, he also credit bathing in hot water as one of the reason. I found that quite amusing, but I’m in no mood to argue. However, I credit it to the usage of aircon and keeping the computer on throughout the night, in the same room.

After switching on the air con, the windows have to be shut tight ma. The computer is allowed to continue produce the heat if it is not shut down. The heat just rotate around the room. The air con will have to work harder to get the room to the fixed temperature. The air con will thus be at a much lower temperature than it should be. And with me taking in both the heat and the coolness of the aircon, no doubt it will cause my body to over react.

Argh! I’ve learnt my lesson and am sleeping with the fan since that day. However, there’s a downside of sleeping with the fans. Mosquito. Got harrassed by one last night, or rather, this morning. Woke up at 1 to eat my medicine. I just happen to wake up automatically la. After that, at 4 am I woke up again. This time due to the persisting mosquito. Bite my neck, fingers, arms. Argh! So pissed that I rub insect repellent and it worked! No mosquitos came and attacked me again.

And my shoulders hurt. I have no idea why. Perhaps it’s dengue. But my temperature is not 38 degrees and over. There’s no rashes.

Oh well, medicine. May I recover by tonight.

The standard Chartered Marathon has started! I’ve singled out 3 areas whereby I could support him, if I go that is. The first is Marina Cove. (Where is that?) As it is the 30th km whereby he will need people to urge him to go on for the remaining 16 km. The next is East Coast at around 35 km. But East Coast is so big! How to find him like that? And the last is at the finishing point whereby I could capture a photo of him finishing the race. Still undecided if I want to go, but I still have about 2 hours to decide.

2 Days ago was TPJC prom night. I have to say that from the little photos of prom I see, the popular colours are white and black. Probably because they are more safe. However, I would gladly prefer white and light brown as a combination. I don’t know if it’s passe but light brown suddenly took an appeal to me. But doesn’t matter as Prom is not my thing as I’ve withdrawn. Quite a bad decision actually because it’s probably a once in a lifetime thing. A pity CCHS did not manage to stage prom for my year. That would have been a blast.

Today’s MJC very own prom, embracing the night they shall.

Yesterday was Payday! Today is my off day! Ok, before I go into lala land, I have a complaint!

As part of my job was to bank in the previous day’s taking, I have to make my way across the road to a particular bank. (I dare not name it as blogging is “unsafe”, especially when it comes to big organisations. ) Yes, I enjoy going to the bank as it means 1 hour of slacking time, though my legs are likely to suffer from the 1 hour of standing, not that I mind. However, yesterday’s trip was totally frustrating. Ok, the queue is as per normal, long. When I finally reach my turn, I went to the counter. Placed my money on the table and the “teller” took it. Ok, normal right? But then, as she was counting the money, she kept making those noise. You know, when you stick your tongue on the top of mouth (behind the teeth) and pull it back. It sounded like “ceeeeeek”. I know you are frustrated at the many packets of cheques and cash but hello, that is YOUR JOB! Count money and tabulate the amount! And even if YOU DO FEEL FRUSTRATED, don’t you think it is better to keep your frustrations to yourself instead of showing your displeasure by making irritating noise? Hello, I’m just in front of you and I’m NOT DEAF! To make things worse, she still have an irritating tone. When she entered the value, the computer will type in the amount and she will give you the receipt. All other tellers did not ask me to check the amount lor, only SHE! And she still “requested” in a very impatient tone. Wah lao! What kind of service is this! No smiles no nothing! Hello, you are situated in the counter for a reason!

A good teller is like that of a DBS bank situated nearby. (Note, when it comes to praise, I feel that it is better if I state the name of the bank) Firstly, the teller greets you with a smile and say “good morning.” Next, she have a nice tone of saying things, for example, if I did not sign the back of the cheque, she will POLITELY ask me to do so. And when I ask if she needs my IC, she replied Yes, please. That is the kind of teller worthy of a praise ok! Not the former! Argh! So infuriating.

And now, ya, lala land. Watched the RO guild war today. haha, RO is ragnarok online and it is my brother that is playing it, not me. It’s quite fun la, protecting castle and fighting other guild for their castle. Haha! The guild war ended with my brother’s castle protected and they defeated another castle. Cool ya, and because of that, I’m starting to think if I should play Maple. I mean, I’ve got so much idle time lor. Dota, at most is play at night and it is not everynight that there’s game for me to join wor! And gunbound is an outdated game that almost all my friends have washed their hands off it.

However, the lure of maple story is not strong. For firstly, there is like only 4 characters you can choose from? Correct me if I’m wrong. So you will go around and you see the same 4 jobs? Har!? That is so dull! Ok, they may have different weapons, armours and stuff, but they have the same skills and stuff ma. And furthermore, it is a game that the more you play, the higher level you get. Just like gunbound, and you may end up with a mediocre character even if you chiong cause others chiong too! And thus, the burning desire cooled off.

In conclusion, there’s nothing much to play ya?

If you have not realise, I changed a layout as this layout, I thought is earier to customise. But I’m terribly wrong! The template is written in such a small font and it spans a great length! It is far more complicated and I have no idea how to customise it other than the banner which I am still looking for inspiration every night. Haha!

And now, after a session of gym, I really feel drained off…
