Harry Potter and what I think will happen (Edited)
June 30, 2007
Before reading Book 7
I’ve been trying to find clues about the fate of the characters in the book and here are some of the stuff I wish will happen in Book 7 la. I stress, they are what I wish will happen.
1. He-who-must-not-be-named die (1 char died)
2. Sirius managed to climb out of the old arch (the place where he fell in)
3. Dumbledore did not die
4. Snape sacrificed himself to save Harry Potter (2nd Char died)
5. Harry Potter with Ginny
6. Ron with Hermione (Then they will all be family!)
After reading the book…
After 26 hours, I’ve finally finished reading what is the last book of Harry Potter. I’ve misread certain signs like thinking there were only 2 deaths in the whole book. I never knew I could be this wrong. Deaths were everywhere. By the end of the book, probably the whole of Hogwarts could see thestrals pulling the carriages.
Ms Rowling had kindly not killed off any of the 3 main characters. I’m thinking if the character who got a reprieve was Harry Potter. I think he’s the one, but I’m not so sure. I suppose come to the end of the book, I was rushing through it just to know the ending before anyone could provide unwanted spoilers for me.
I do suppose that she left some gaps for herself in case she wanted to write out how they spent the 19 years just after the battle till seeing their kids off to school. I hope that I’ve missed that out, but what happened to Luna? What is Harry Potter and Co doing now? What happened to the rest of the Weasley brothers? And did I miss this out, who is the current Headmaster of Hogwarts? What is Ron and Hermione doing after they married? What about Ginny? Are they neighbours? Where is Teddy staying in? There’s just so much, so much I wish she could have explained further.
There’s probably too many unanswered questions inside of my mind but I’ll give it a rest before I re-read the book on Monday.
Japan goodies!
June 25, 2007
I’m starting to get some preview of my trip to Japan! One of my colleague brought some wasabi biscuit to camp today! The taste was simply wasabi. It has a coat of wasabi on the shell and thus the first taste you get after poping it into your mouth is the sort of spicyness when you eat wasabi. Nice la!
Then tonight, while watching Campus Superstar (My weekly 1 hour of Tv), my mother brought back some biscuit from work. The quantity was very little cause it was bought by my mom colleague’s mom.
The first picture was the plastic bag. I don’t know what it means in Japanese terms la. Only that 恋人 is lovers. As for the 白-i? I have no idea la. I presume that it was the shop that sold those nice nice biscuits.
The second picture is a biscuit. The wrapper has the face of a female doll which fits the biscuit inside. I don’t exactly know how to describe it, but when I first saw it, I found it very innovative. Looks very nice on the outside.
And the last one is the chocolate biscuit. They come in pairs. The one with the darker wrapping has white chocolate and the one with white package has dark chocolate. I personally prefer the one with white chocolate la.
Ok la, I know what to buy back from Japan if I really go there during December la! Then you guys can have a taste of Japan goodies! Haha!
House element 1 – Tabletop!
June 23, 2007
Since there is a lack of pictures recently, I’ve come up with this idea of introducing my house elements, starting with my tabletop!
1 – gohnson & gohnson clean and clear facial wash. Used occasionally or when I feel that my skin is oily. Refreshing feeling after usage. Cheap and therefore, I bought it around a month ago after comparing with many other brands.
2 – Banana Boat Tanning oil. Used only once after finding out that it harms the skin and doesn’t have much help since the sun that shines on my pool comes suddenly and goes suddenly as well. Luckily I don’t need to depend on the tanning oil to get my tan. Oh yah, it leaves an oily feeling after applied and it is not water proof!
3 – Gatsby wet and hard gel. Good for short hair but it doesn’t last very long. After a couple of hours, there is a need to go the bathroom to restyle or just leave it the way it was before the gel was applied.
4 – Neutrogena Daily Face Scrub for MEN. It says removes and prevents blackheads. I bought it when I felt that my nose got invaded by blackheads or in chinese, 黑头。It certainly removes blackheads. However, the blackheads seem to find its way back quite easily. Used a few times when I’m free and felt like scrubbing my nose. It’s a scrub ma, therefore, it has those rough rough particles which are used to rub against your skin. Not bad la, but when used on the face, it seems to make my face oily. I’ve read before that different facial cleanser has different effect on different people, therefore try out some to see which suits you best.
5 – Altec Lansing Speaker. One of the cheapest speaker.
6 – Philips monitor. Good because there’s 3 years warranty.
7 – Don’t know what it is right? It is actually a FM antenna. Didn’t use it much nowadays because there’s no more 音乐日记 every weeknights anymore.
8 – Singtel’s 2 wire modem. I won’t say that is the best modem around, but then, that’ s the only one offered.
9 – Cheepo mouse
10 – House keys
11 - SYF Picture! A 3 size ok. Obtained during the last GEM concert. And it had been on my desk since then. Nice la, suits my desk colour and also can occassionally look at the people inside.
12 – NDS Lite! My one huge source of entertainment. Playing Pokemon Diamond, Ouendan 2 as well as mario kart now.
13 – Watch. The longest lasting electronic device which I currently own. Been with me since Secondary 1. Therefore, it means that it has been functioning for a grand total of 8 years! Woah!
14 - Nokia 6030 Hp. Has radio function on it, otherwise my journey to and from Boon Lay daily will be a torture!
15 – Printed out Calender which has my to do list on it. However, it is very outdated and I can’t seem to follow what I written. Boo!
16 – Advance Theory passing slip. Still under my table letting me know that I’ve got driving lessons to continue after this busy months of June and July!
17 – Wallet. I realised that many of my things are very cheap stuff. Watch, Hp, Wallet, etc. My wallet cost less than 20 bucks. Haha!
18 – My “allowance” slip! Haha, go figure.
19 – NDS Case 1. My first NDS pouch. I was looking for a leather case that you could put your NDS in and just push it out when the need arises. Instead of the usual Zip type of case which most stores provided. Even though it is not exactly what I wanted, It does come closest to what I had imagined.
20 – My resolutions for the year 2008. Some of the items are being carried out. Whereas some of them are still in the waiting list.
21 – NDS Case 2. This case is more sturdy as it is harder than the first. However, if you want to attach a earphone onto it, it becaomes a problem as the case is for a normal Size NDS, therefore, I can;t even leave a small opening to plug in my earphones! Boo!
22 – The last item on the list is a Gatsby Wax! Haha. I a bit hiao right? Even gel have to have a gel and a wax. Haha. It is suppossed to be mroe lasting but I don;t have the time to really go mess around with my hair till I get the right effects. So currently, I just make do with whatever my hands managed to style.
Yup, that’s the end of my House elements 1!
News
June 16, 2007
The Straits Times had gotten much gloomier these past weeks. While reading the Home section today, there is an article regarding an increase of applicants applying to private Universities as well as foreign Universities among Singaporeans. I’m still awaiting my appeal to NUS FASS, however, there is probably 99% chance of a rejection considering that people with A B E C6 did not even make it!? Furthermore, today’s newspaper also mentioned that “business, law and arts” faculty are high in demand.
When did FASS get so high in demand? During my generation, FASS seems to be one of the faculty that accept some of the lower scoring pupils. Or is it because of that that’s why their intake is so high as compared to engineering courses? Since the impression of students is that just enrol into a course and get a degree. People no longer take up courses they are interested in because the world out there is so materialistic. Mentioning that you have a degree will probably get u a much higher pay job regardless of the relevance of your degree and the job.
Anyway, today’s newspaper also mentioned about the suicide of a NSF in Hendon Camp. Hendon Camp is more commonly known as the Commando camp. However, it is not a commando who need to endure grusome training and tough punishment that committed suicide. The one commiting suicide was actually a driver. He probably had many difficulties of his own and therefore, his death is not related to SAF. Or perhaps that is what we were supposed to think?
Haiyah, actually many people have thought of suicide before right? But 1 thing is that it does take a lot of courage. Not that I’ve tried la. But then, I believe that one need to be more responsible. Even after your death, your family will be the one suffering most. They will have your death as well as your problems to handle. Emotionaly that will be extremely draining. They may also feel guilty for not noticing your behaviour turning for the worst and thus blame themselves. That will be a huge psychology blow suffered.
Haiyah, what am I talking la. Been blabbering about crap for the past few entries le. But regarding myself, there is noting worth blogging about ma, so I made an effort to relate to issues that happened recently, though I probably just covered the skin deep issues.
Aiyah, so in conclusion, for mroe information, read the newspapers la.
Rumblings…
June 8, 2007
Wake me up when September Ends.
I only know there is a song by this title but I don’t know the lyrics nor the meaning. However, when September comes to an end, it means that I’ll probably start my wisdom tooth extraction and some Medical Appointment here and there. It’s been a tough journey this 15 months in my unit.
You know, in terms of NS, completing courses like OCS, SISPEC will get you your rank immediately. However, in my unit, getting rank is related to how long you’ve been in the army. To raise to a coporal rank, you need to serve the army for 15 months. Therefore, when you get the promotion, it doesn’t only means higher pay, it means you’re closer to your ORD date. ORD is a magical word in NS. When you meet fellow friends in NS, the first thing you will usually ask is, what’s your vocation. And ORD date never escape the first 5 sentences of your conversation. It is just so natural.
“Long time no see!”
“Which camp are you at?”
“What is your vocation?”
“When is your ORD?”
The above 4 topics really help bridge the gap between fellow NSFs who don’t even know each other.
Because my vocation requires many interaction with people of all ages and all ranks, it is inevitable that I’ve answered the following question upteen times. Signed on personnels usually take the ORD date as a gauge of how proficient you are in your work. Meaning, the earlier your ORD date, the better you should be la. Logical ma. Therefore, I’ve basically replied from 1 year 9 months remaining to now, 1 year 5 months served.
Time really flies. However, the future still looks dim as ever. NUS, SMU and NTU received a huge number of applicants this year, with this year being the dragon year and all. However, I’m competing with the rabbits for a place and I’m sad to say that all applications had failed. I only sent an appeal to NUS cause FASS is really the course of my choice. And my mother recently shocked me. She asked me if I planned to study overseas. Cause we never discussed about an overseas education from the start and I thought they were pretty ok with SIM.
Somehow, the thought of studying overseas didn’t gel with me. It’s too expensive. I’m not good at adapting, be it a new school or whatsoever, much needless to say a whole new country/continent without any one close to me by my side. I’m not that strong.
I think I’m bad, but I’m somewhat glad that there are people appealing for courses like me. But the thing is that quite a number also took an Arts education!
I really hope that I could squeeze through and just get a place so that I need not fret about University admission next year. For all you know, maybe I’ll just follow my dreams. I don’t mind working for little pay in the first year in Japan. Just so ong that I could act alongside Aya Ueto and Kimura Takuya, I’ll be satisfied!
Typing till now, I have no idea what I’m blogging about already.
On a totally irrelevant point, this year’s street fest is pretty decent! From the pictures, many people are beginning to really doll themselves up with makeup and fancy costumes! Therefore, this resparked an interest to cosplay, since the scene is probably hotter than ever with a relatively high number of good cosplayers this time round.
I think I’ll end this long winded post with no connection here abruptly cause I really have nothing more to say.
Update
June 4, 2007
Haven’t been blogging about practical things recently. However, the last post was a very nice song. If you bothered to listen and read the lyrics, it depicts a man losing his girlfriend. In the case of the lyrics, it is because of an illness. And how do I know that it is because of an illness? The song is the Chinese version of the theme song of “One Litres of Tears!”
Without even knowing what the Japanese song lyrics mean, there is this natural sadness whenever I heard this chinese song on air. I just couldn’t recall what song it was but I just knew the tune. It took me like 4 times hearing the song on air that I realise where it came from. And mind you, the song does not play on air on a frequent basis considering the singer is from Mainland China and he is still new to the entertainment circle. Therefore, what I’m trying to say is that I’m just fated to hear this song la.
Anyway, the reason of the lack in post lately is because there is nothing much to blog about. Life in my camp is very busy, but compared to how stressful I’ve felt back then, it’s much better, though the current system doesn’t seem to work yet. However, if the nuber of Exercises we had were like before, the system would work. It should work and it will benefit the future generations because everyone could then cover for each other, which is good la. And more people could get the chance to venture overseas because they are well equip with the necessary skills.
Yup, working 12 hours shift or more for 3 months straight is definitely a killer. Luckily there is this week only for preparations therefore I manage to sneak in a couple of days leave, if not, my body immune system will just continue to fail me. I think my body is very systematic. If I went to the gym/swim once a week, my body function as per normal, no sign of sickness or anything. However, once I stop for like 3 weeks, things changed. I get the flu, start to feel cold, cough, get sore throat. And worst case situation, tonsilities. The doctor told me there’s things like blister on the side of my throat. (I visit a chinese physcian) Therefore, I think that I’m lucky it didn’t get worse otherwise, there might be a repeat of my 9 days MC! Good is good la, but who can help me cover my duties? Argh!
Aiyah, nevermind. Getting through June will be the main focus of the month! Like duh!
