Hotaru no Hikari

January 25, 2008

I’m so glad!

I’ve been religiously watching Hotaru no Hikari (Glow of Fireflies) for 2 episodes a day for the past week! It’s such a lovely romantic comedy! It appears that I’ve progressed onto the next level when I’m choosing Jap dramas to watch.

I used to like School Dramas whereby the kids are all mostly delinquents and they gave up their trust for teachers until some particular teacher inspired and motivated the kids to excel and gained the trust of them through extreme circumstances; think GTO, Gokusen, etc.

Not that I do not like them now, I still do, just that the satisfaction level is gradually decreasing. However, after I’ve seen Hotaru no Hikari, I realise I prefer light hearted office dramas, well at least for now I do la. Both the female and male leads played such a great role in making this drama so easy to watch and pleasing both for the eyes as well as the heart. Ahh! Their acting are just so natural, I like!

Ahhh! Shall stop here and head off for my work, I sincerely recommend this drama for viewing pleasure! ^^

You hear people saying that they want to be a millionaire. Daniel Radcliffe just turned 18 and he got more than $20 million. It certainly sound easy for one to earn a million bucks. So let’s say that I want to earn just $1 million before I get married and buy my car. So just taking into my account of how much I might be spending a month, let’s analyse how long I need to earn a million dollars.

Say, I graduate from University at the age of 23 at the earliest. I spend all my savings on my education. After which, I got hired by a company and earn $2000 a month. Of the $2000, let’s assume for now, that I spend $500 a month and save the rest, for simple calculation purpose. I would have gathered $18000.

So assuming I stick with the job and I get a pay rise of $500 a month for every year and I save all of the increment. Sound generous right? But nevermind, it is all in the sake of easy calculation.

1st year — 18000 (1500 x 12)
2nd year — 24000 (2000 x 12) (42000)
3rd year — 30000 (2500 x 12) (72000)
4th year — 36000 (3000 x 12) (108000)
5th year — 42000 (3500 x 12) (150000)

6th year — 48000 (4000 x 12) (198000)

7th year — 54000 (45000 x 12) (252000)

8th year — 60000 (5000 x 12) (312000)

9th year — 66000 (5500 x 12) (378000)

10th year — 72000 (6000 x 12) (450000)

11th year — 78000 (6500 x 12) (528000)

12th year — 84000 (7000 x 12) (612000)

13th year — 90000 (7500 x 12) (702000)

14th year — 96000 (8000 x 12) (798000)

15th year — 102000 (8500 x 12) (900000)

16th year — 108000 (9000 x 12) (1008000)

So by that time, I’ll be 23 + 16 = 39 years old!

This is highly unlikely, because seldom does people get wage increment of $500 a month every year. How could a person spend only $500 a month though his salary is 9500 a month? As your pay increase, living standards increase. There’s inflation, not to mention taxes increase proportionately as your earnings increase. The amount of money you have to give your parents, etc. Even under highly fictious environment, one need to save for 16 years before attaining a million dollars!

See, that’s why, be an actor! You earn something like $30 million? $40 million? $50 million? all before you even turn 18 years old!

Of course, I could start by working my way up from cool Sg actor to cool Jap actor to cool Hollywood actor to Legendary cool actor lah. Haha!

Aspirations

April 11, 2007

In order to be a cool Jap actor, there certain things need to be achieved.

1) I need to be able to speak and read Japanese! Or else how to read the script?

2) I need to have a nice built! Or else how to stand out from the rest of the aspiring cool Jap actor?

3) I need to be able to sing well! In case you didn;t know, Takuya Kimura is from Smap. Aya Ueto sing her own drama songs.

These being said, I have a long long way to go! Argh!

Anyway, any guitar people want to go to SYF to see our junior? They are now 85% But remember, they need to be 150% in order to get honours. Perhaps we could cheer them on!
