Harry Potter!

After watching Transformers and Die Hard 4.0 (Actually I’ve no intention of watching it. I was saving all my concentration for Harry Potter!), it’s time for the most anticipated movie of the year! Well, at least for me, it is the most anticipated movie of the year!

There, free tickets compliments of SAFRA. Went all the way to Mount Faber just to get the ticket ok! And following that, I went to Singpost to preorder my Harry Potter and the deathly hallow(s). It’s going to be a Harry Potter filled month.

Harry Potter and what I think will happen (Edited)

Before reading Book 7

I’ve been trying to find clues about the fate of the characters in the book and here are some of the stuff I wish will happen in Book 7 la. I stress, they are what I wish will happen.

1. He-who-must-not-be-named die (1 char died)

2. Sirius managed to climb out of the old arch (the place where he fell in)

3. Dumbledore did not die

4. Snape sacrificed himself to save Harry Potter (2nd Char died)

5. Harry Potter with Ginny

6. Ron with Hermione (Then they will all be family!)

After reading the book…
After 26 hours, I’ve finally finished reading what is the last book of Harry Potter. I’ve misread certain signs like thinking there were only 2 deaths in the whole book. I never knew I could be this wrong. Deaths were everywhere. By the end of the book, probably the whole of Hogwarts could see thestrals pulling the carriages.

Ms Rowling had kindly not killed off any of the 3 main characters. I’m thinking if the character who got a reprieve was Harry Potter. I think he’s the one, but I’m not so sure. I suppose come to the end of the book, I was rushing through it just to know the ending before anyone could provide unwanted spoilers for me.

I do suppose that she left some gaps for herself in case she wanted to write out how they spent the 19 years just after the battle till seeing their kids off to school. I hope that I’ve missed that out, but what happened to Luna? What is Harry Potter and Co doing now? What happened to the rest of the Weasley brothers? And did I miss this out, who is the current Headmaster of Hogwarts? What is Ron and Hermione doing after they married? What about Ginny? Are they neighbours? Where is Teddy staying in? There’s just so much, so much I wish she could have explained further.

There’s probably too many unanswered questions inside of my mind but I’ll give it a rest before I re-read the book on Monday.

News

The Straits Times had gotten much gloomier these past weeks. While reading the Home section today, there is an article regarding an increase of applicants applying to private Universities as well as foreign Universities among Singaporeans. I’m still awaiting my appeal to NUS FASS, however, there is probably 99% chance of a rejection considering that people with A B E C6 did not even make it!? Furthermore, today’s newspaper also mentioned that “business, law and arts” faculty are high in demand.

When did FASS get so high in demand? During my generation, FASS seems to be one of the faculty that accept some of the lower scoring pupils. Or is it because of that that’s why their intake is so high as compared to engineering courses? Since the impression of students is that just enrol into a course and get a degree. People no longer take up courses they are interested in because the world out there is so materialistic. Mentioning that you have a degree will probably get u a much higher pay job regardless of the relevance of your degree and the job.

Anyway, today’s newspaper also mentioned about the suicide of a NSF in Hendon Camp. Hendon Camp is more commonly known as the Commando camp. However, it is not a commando who need to endure grusome training and tough punishment that committed suicide. The one commiting suicide was actually a driver. He probably had many difficulties of his own and therefore, his death is not related to SAF. Or perhaps that is what we were supposed to think?

Haiyah, actually many people have thought of suicide before right? But 1 thing is that it does take a lot of courage. Not that I’ve tried la. But then, I believe that one need to be more responsible. Even after your death, your family will be the one suffering most. They will have your death as well as your problems to handle. Emotionaly that will be extremely draining. They may also feel guilty for not noticing your behaviour turning for the worst and thus blame themselves. That will be a huge psychology blow suffered.

Haiyah, what am I talking la. Been blabbering about crap for the past few entries le. But regarding myself, there is noting worth blogging about ma, so I made an effort to relate to issues that happened recently, though I probably just covered the skin deep issues.

Went to watch 200 pounds beauty yesterday. Quite a good movie la. At least it is funny! Somehow, they seem to not want viewers to cry. Cause when it gets to the most touching moment, one small character will step in and make the scene a comedy instead. Haha!

How come!

I have no idea why, but one of myfavourite DJ is leaving yes 93.3fm. And because I am the duty clerk, I could not listen to her last hours on air. Damn! I’m so pissed off! Hearing the news from my other favourite DJ was even more devastating. Even more so upon hearing that her departure will have a great impact on him.

Well, that’s life. People come and go. In 1 year 2 months time, I’m leaving that place for good.

Anyway, it’s 21 days before flying. I heard that there’s 2 days 1 night of Rest and Relax up in wallaby. Staying in a motel near the beach! Therefore, it’s likely that there’s going to be beach wear! If it’s cheap, I’ll go on a shopping spree! Singapore sells Billabong board shorts like treasure. One of them cost 70 bucks! So expensive la!

Just felt like writing something down today la. Was not the best of days.Intended tostay in, but there’s some problems at home which needs my presence to rectify. Spent 16 bucks hailig a Taxi and rushed home. Fixed a minor problem and have to wake up extremely early tomorrow because got duty. Argh!

Hahahaha! I miss Teresa can! Sigh, just when people notified me of the existence of her blog, it’s already gone! She’s one ideal lady lor. Good for Joshua, whoever he is! Kind of strange for me to say such things right? Since I’m out of School already, and might not get a chance to be part of a school anymore…

Anyway, back to Teresa, I don’t know.. but I think my feelings is flowing too loosely lately. I got too attached while watching her sing that.. I think I actually developed a crush on her lor. So impractical of me. She belong to the 1990, while I belong to the 1987. Quite close though. But it’s quite scary when 2 stranger discuss ways and means to try to know you right? That’s actually what my colleague and I were discussing for the past few days, and we managed to put down all our suggestions as easily as we came up with them. Of course we will not be serious and start to play AWOL and tamper with the remaining bond that we have to serve.

And yesterday, I found out that her birthday is 19/10! Haha! Had a slight hope that it may be 09/10 ma! Cause she’s a Librian too. But well, nevermind. It’s impossible anyway, for me an ugly old fella and someone so dumb, with no singing talent, I would be ousted right from the start! Though she said she don’t mind people who are not shuai.. Wahaha! Ok la! I better stop this stupid thing.

Didn’t want to post this entry actually, as it is so childish-hy and immature, but I guess this may be one of the only way to distract me from thinking about her when I’m free la. Been quite free for the past 2 days, nothing much to do, but now that I know what my duties for the remaining 2 years in my NS, I better start to work hard. Mugging will commence very soon, probably tomorrow or Monday. Xiong.

Anyway, Teresa still rocks la. Hopefully, with the help of time, I will be able to get her out of my mind, otherwise, I doubt I will be in a relationship man! Haha! Else the other lady jealous or something..

Ahhh! Nice nice nice show! Halu. He’s an excellent leader (Even though it is only n the show). An excellent leader knows each and every of your members inside out. He don’t have to say to inspire. He leads by example and influences by actions. That’s fully satisfied by Halu. He commands a team of young lads who very much respect him. That’s how a great teamspirit forged.

I never had the body of an atheletic. I’ve never been part of a team sport. However, I know I’m more of a team player. I may be weak, but there’s this explosive self inside of me waiting to get involved in a real fight. A fight that I am willing to take in defence of my 队友.

Somehow, this may be the reason I want to get real in sports. I may not have the built that gives me an advantage in any sports but.. I sorta feel that I can accomplish anything on a sports field. I want to discover the rough side of me. Can I even be rough? Can han zhong withstand the violence of the sports field?

Before the results are announced, I must say that I’m deeply enchanted by JJ’s performance! He totally rocked man! That explains why he managed to have so many fans all across Asia! He’s a complete all rounder, now that he showcased his rapping ability as well as his “percussion” ability! That totally brought me off my feet! Furthermore, he could dance too! Perfect! In addition, he’s made in Singapore! Woohoo! So proud of him!

The Results proved my analogy to be correct.
The better performer lost today.

Kelly received the better comments from the 5 established judges. Perhaps that’s also the key to her defeat. The analogy goes in this vicious cycle. Upon seeing your favourite singer getting not as good a remark, for fear that he will be pulled down by that, you will want to push him up by sending more sms or calling more, and hence having better remarks today may not be a wise choice as they have no weightage in the final score.

Wei Lian’s visual disability proved to be a double edged sword for him this competition. It gave him all the attention, be it unwanted or the attention he deserved for being a singer who uses his voice to touch our hearts. Given his much more dull stage appeal, he makes it up by being a good speaker, always grabbing “that spot” which makes us feel that he is brave and courageous and swayed our feelings into sending him an sms. As for kelly, she undoubtedly have the power on stage. Her elegant and sleek moves, probably due to her dancing background, emphasized her powerful vocals. Being young is probably one of her positive attributes. She have a longer way to go and her path to stardom is definitely comparable to that of Wei Lian’s.

Over the previous months, Kelly had always been the highest pointer, accompanied by Jun Yang. They were the 2 tipped to compete in today’s finale. However, given the strong fanbase and some pretty “powerful” quotes by the female host, Wei Lian won the male final, despite losing out quite a fair bit on the judges point. People root for his courage to attempt to move around the stage. However, is that being fair to the other contestants?

Many people believe that a 绝对 superstar should cater to the mass audience, be it the young the old, the female and the male, however, contrary to popular belief, I feel that a superstar must have the attributes of one. I would prefer an all rounder like JJ to become a Superstar. Would you prefer Bae or Jay? Note, I’m using them for comparison because bae cater to the late 20s and early 30s to 40s, while Jay cater to the teenage and young adults. Which group will be easier to market outside of Singapore?

Wei Lian winning this campaign could show that Singaporeans treat everybody equally and goes to show that we, Singaporeans show no sense of biasness against the visually impaired. We gave them equal chances to stardom to fulfil their dream. However, ask yourself if that’s euqal chances? Q, The female host is showing her favourtism using a louder voice to stress Wei Lian’s name and always relating what she felt was very brave of Wei Lian to do. Did she do that for other contestants? Furthermore, during the interviews of the average Joes, people supporting Wei Lian never fail to mention that we should not say Wei Lian cannot be a Jue Dui superstar because he is visually impaired. Now, I can safely say that Wei Lian became the first Jue Dui Superstar because of that. The 2 edged sword theory again.
